Market-Based Strategic Planning

Our approch to Strategic Planning is different from most. We call it
Market-Based!

That’s because things are way too competitive out there! Fact is, you don't get to plan anything you want. Rather, if you hope to grow and succeed, you must develop strategies specifically for what the market calls for.

You want to end up with a "strategic" (think what that word means!) game plan aimed at achieving particular outcomes...rather than just a "to-do" list of projects for the coming year. There are two key intentions.

  1. Directors must stress doing good things for members.

  2. Management must drive to increase the use accounts and services.

The first focus is on outcomes, the second on process. They are related of course, but it helps to hold tight to the distinction between the two! This chart is our version of what strategic planning for credit unions should be about:
