Dick Campbell

Military: Air Force: 1955-58 as an aircraft controller and trained as a fighter pilot
Career: Worked one year for Colgate-Palmolive Co. then in the Air Force, then was a Sales Engineer for The Trane Co. for 15 years and worked in the Seattle district. I started my own company: The Campbell Co. which specialized in cooling and electrical systems for large computer rooms. After 15 years I sold my company and retired.
Proudest Accomplishment: I ran a good company and we were successful in our field. We had excellent employees where everyone looked forward to coming to work, even on Mondays.

Russ Cheetam
Born: Sydney, Australia, 1939
Spouse: Fay Ann
Children: two daughters and five grandchildren Education: B.Sc. (Agriculture), Sydney University, Australia (1960); came to the U.S. in 1966 for graduate studies; M.A. (1968) and Ph.D. (1969) in Economics, University of Wisconsin.
Career: Agricultural Officer in Papua New Guinea, 1961-1966; staff member of World Bank, 1969-1996. Worked in operations for most of the time in East Asia, South Asia, and the former Soviet Union. Lived in Philippines (1974-77), Indonesia (1980-1984), and Moscow (1991).
At the time of retirement (1996) was Vice President for the East Asia and Pacific Region, responsible for Bank operations in these countries.
In 1996, set up the Asia-Pacific Investment Services Corporation and as President, undertook a wide range of consultancy assignments around the world for governments, private companies and international agencies that included work in China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines, Timor-Leste, Poland, Russia, Afghanistan, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, and Sudan.
Current Status: Continue to work part-time in various countries as a consultant. Highlight of professional career: Direct negotiations with President Mikhail Gorbachev in Moscow in 1991 regarding membership of the Soviet Union in the World Bank. Following the breakup of the Soviet Union in December 1991, subsequent negotiations in 1992 with leaders of successor states over membership in the World Bank. Favorite interests: Political & economic history of regions of the world, travel abroad, and music.
Brian Comstock
In 1954 Brian graduated Magna Cum Laude from UW with a degree in political science. He then served two years as an officer in US army counter-intelligence. He received his law degree from Harvard in 1959 and joined Roberts & Shefelman rising to managing partner. In 1987 they merged with Foster & Pepper. In 1990 Brian moved to Short Cressman & Burgess to head its business practice group. He retired in 2004 and served as an adjunct professor at Seattle U Law School and the Albers School of Business and finance.
In 2006 he and his son, John formed the Comstock Law firm in Bellevue.
Brian has been married to Karen for 55 years and have seven grandchildren. Having played on the UW tennis team, he still loves playing tennis. He has climbed Mt Rainier several times and many other mountains as well, including Mt Kilimanjaro and Mt Everest, though only part way on that hill. He also has been an aerobatic pilot and part owner of a family airplane.
Tom Davdson
Tom has lived and worked in this area, mostly on Mercer Island, for 48 years. He graduated from Bellevue High School, attained his undergraduate degree at University of Washington, then went on to earn his degree in Dentistry…and another in his specialty, Endodontics, also at the UW.
He began his practice on MI, taught at the UW School of Dentistry...now retired.
Tom has engaged in many volunteer opportunities such as Boy Scout leadership as well as many others associated with his Rotary membership. He currently volunteers as a docent at the Museum of flight.
At one time he was an avid private pilot and then a boat owner and operator, in which he is still engaged.
Bill Dowling
Dr. William Dowling, a resident of Aljoya, is a Professor in the Department of Health Services in the School of Public Health at the University of Washington. He was Chair of the Department from 1994 to 2009.
He still teaches courses on the strategic management of health care organizations and the U.S. health care system in the master’s degree program in health administration at the U.W. His research interest is in the relationship between the changing U.S. health care environment and the strategies, structures and performance of U.S. health care organizations.
He received a BA from Duke University, an MBA in Hospital Administration from the University of Chicago, and an MA in Economics and PhD in Medical Care Organization from the University of Michigan, where he subsequently served on the faculty of the graduate program in Hospital Administration. He came to Seattle to serve as vice-president of Planning and Policy Development for the Providence Health System before joining the University of Washington.
David Eitelbach

Career: Bell Labs for 10 years, many small companies in the PNW for 13 years, Microsoft for 11 years (retired in 2006). Now retired.
Proudest Accomplishment: Senior Program Manager for Virtual Private Networking at Microsoft. Really cool feature!
Favorite interests: Music (piano, guitar), choral singing, assisting non-profits with computer and networking issues.
Lowell Ericsson

Education: Undergraduate major in Chemistry at Beloit College, 1946 - 1950, and Biochemistry (graduate school) at the University of Chicago, 1951-1955. Main academic interest— Protein Structure.
Career: He has been a chemist in the Space Medicine Group at the Boeing Company, a research scientist in the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Washington (40 years), and most recently was a scientist in the Protein Chemistry Departments of Immunex/Amgen. He is also the owner/partner in AAA Laboratory. Currently retired.

Career: For 30 years— volunteered as a dentist overseas in rural areas— in Honduras, Mexico, Peru, Vietnam, Panama, Paraguay, Bolivia and Costa Rica (United Nations Refugee Camp), and Guatemala. I have been on a number of scientific volunteer projects: Agriculture in Peru, Sociology study in Gibraltar, Environmental in Venezuela and Mexico, Marine Biology in Spain, Canary Islands, Mexico, Anthropologic digs in Easter Island and Uruguay, Paleontology in Mexico, Ecology in Mexico, and Ornithology in Vietnam. Have had a story published in the Earth Corps’s national magazine on my work in Vietnam.

Career: Employed by Sundstrand Corporation for 40 years. Worked in 7 divisions— as a design engineer, project engineer, marketing and sales rep, product manager and finally, product line manager with profit and loss responsibility.
Proudest Accomplishment: Helped Sundstrand products and systems establish almost complete dominance in the aviation industry, both in the U.S. and abroad. The highlight of my career is that I was able to establish Sundstrand products with all of my customers. In doing so, I was able to make and retain strong friendships with the engineers and managers with whom I associated.
Other Organizations: Long time member of MI Rotary, Member/Past President of the Probus Club of MI. My wife and I are founding members of the Congregational Church on MI, and for 16 years I have been an active docent at the Museum of Flight.
Favorite Interests: I have always enjoyed singing as a soloist and choir member, sang in three barbershop quartets and served as a chorus director over 18 years with SPEBSQSA. I play an electronic keyboard as well as a Hammond organ (am self taught on those machines). Love to read and am an avid college and high school basketball and football fan. I was an avid golfer until my arthritic hands would no longer hold a golf club.

Worked on a reusable aerospace vehicle, with Dr. Ernst Steinhoff, a German scientists\ brought here after WW-II, at Holloman AFB, New Mexico.
Career: 23 years in Technology Management at Boeing Commercial Airplane Company. Ran the noise reduction program for all Boeing commercial jets. Was Director of Total Quality Management for Engineering Division at Boeing before taking early retirement (age 55) in 1988. Now retired!

Proudest Professional Accomplihment: Mercer Island Citizen of Year 1993; Awarded for establishing and supervising in the Mercer Island Fire Department the first EMT cardiac defibrillation program in the world. This program was the stimulus for a similar program that was tested in South King County by Dr. Mickey Eisenberg and proven to be effective in resuscitation of victims of sudden cardiac death. This has been a model for similar programs nation-wide.

Professional Accomplishment: Pioneering work in community involvement and citizen participation in major public works projects (West Seattle Freeway/1970). Created/produced national rollout marketing campaign for credit union “share drafts” (checking account services), leading to the deregulation of consumer banking in U.S. Facilitated the industry-wide shift into full-service banking. Feasibility studies for Tulalip Tribes to establish first Indian Gaming Casino in Washington.

Career: Emergency Department Physician at Providence Regional Medical Center Everett and Valley General Hospital in Monroe.

Favorite Interests: Medical director for Quark (takes paying tourists to the polar regions on Russian icebreakers), backcountry skiing, hiking, sailing.
